Public's Perceptions of Batik and How We Determine Marketing Strategy of Batik as Informal Attire

Abstract

Fashion is an industry category with high demand. Innovation from the fashion industry should be developed. Through Batik, fashion can have a new identity and value added as Indonesian cultural heritage.This research was conducted by researches because researchers still see some people who only use batik as a formal attire. The method used in this study is the descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of the study were women aged between 16-30 years domiciled in Indonesia. The data collection method used is observation and interview of 30 respondents through an open question questionnaire. The results were analyzed by looking at the most answers given by respondents. Based on the results of research that has been done, the average respondent still considers batik as formal clothing. The limit that we set is the perspective of people towards batik as formal clothing. This research has the main goal of analyzing perceptions of one of Indonesia's cultural heritage.
