Abstract

Abstract: This research work attempts to analyses the manufacturing process through Value Stream Mapping. Value stream mapping is a part of lean manufacturing technique that represent the pictorial view of manufacturing processes, activities, materials flow and converts the product from raw material to the arm of the customer, helps to identify waste, value added activities and non-value added activities produce in manufacturing process and categorize these waste.

A case study carried out to identify value added and non-value added activities and calculate non-value added time in manufacturing process. Lean manufacturing plays essential duty to enhance the productivity and manufacturing performance.

Aim of any manufacturing industry to become fully satisfying and fulfilling the customer demands within limited time and customer happily to pay for it if customer will not pay for any waste and the industry have to focused on this, so that the industry needs to implement value stream mapping or process activity mapping.

VSM technique has more significance in Auto Industry, Present State map of the rubber mixing material has been experienced by using VSM symbols, the process time was conducted for the analysis of various types of waste and identification of bottleneck during manufacturing process the major waste is inventory, defect and transportation.
