This study presents a community service program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat, PKM) conducted by Universitas Tarumanagara to introduce high school students to business and management concepts, with a particular focus on demand forecasting. The program aimed to enhance students’ analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities through activity-based learning rather than conventional lectures. Several interactive sessions were implemented, including negotiation games, creativity games, and a practical module on demand forecasting.
The results indicate that the activity-based learning approach effectively increased students’ engagement and comprehension. The negotiation games demonstrated that selecting less popular options can be a beneficial strategy during negotiation. The creativity games encouraged students to recognize that creativity can be developed with sufficient time and motivation. Finally, the demand forecasting activity helped students understand the real-world application of mathematics in business decision-making.
Overall, the PKM successfully improved student participation, motivation, and conceptual understanding. These findings suggest that experiential learning methods are effective in enhancing business literacy and mathematical application among high school students.
