Abstract
The rise of games became an important part of the development of the social and mental capacities of people. Video games were a popular recreational activity, particularly among college students (Hamlen, 2018), and had a positive impact on cognitive strategies related to problem-solving. Quwaider et al. (2019) stated that video games transformed many areas of life, such as education, entertainment, and social interactions. Studies showed that certain genres of games fostered and enhanced soft skills such as oral communication and negotiation in an Entrepreneurship course (Fioravanti et al., 2021). Educational multiplayer online role-playing games were used for soft skill training to promote and develop more effective entrepreneurial skills across Social Enterprises (Keary et al., 2016). Buelow et al. (2015) examined the effects of video games on decision-making and problem-solving, which were characteristics that entrepreneurs needed to possess. This study investigated the relationship between different video game genres that can cultivate entrepreneurial skills by using the Kruskal-Wallis test through SPSS. The respondents for this study were entrepreneurs with experience in the field who play video games. The results demonstrated that goal-setting (p = 0.038) and problem-solving (p = 0.020) were statistically significant, with both groups having a high mean rank for Strategic games, indicating that Strategic games showed high problem-solving and goal-setting among its players. These findings highlighted the potential of integrating game-based learning strategies into entrepreneurship education and provided valuable insights.
