Abstract
Malnutrition has stricken many people around the world. Zimbabwe has, for many years, dealt with food security issues. Though the country has received support from the United Nations and a host of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), food security issues still exist. One of the most critical areas of nutrition deficiency is in the inconsistent availability of vitamin A micronutrients that adolescents and women receive. A deficiency in vitamin A can lead to stunted growth which can lead to a host of other health problems. In this paper I share my understanding of bioengineering and how it can be used to produce micronutrient supplements for people living in rural communities in Zimbabwe.
