The majority of waste at landfills today could be recycled and could find a better solution than being buried in the ground. The awareness of Malaysian in reducing waste through recycling is relatively low. Thus, the recycling rate of Malaysia was 17.5% in 2015. This research focuses on Penang Island due to being a popular tourist destination and the high number of industrial parks located at Penang. Although various green initiatives were introduced by the state government, the recycling rate in Penang has room for improvement. In order to preserve the environment in Penang, this research would provide an innovative solution which is conceptual in nature, comprising green as a backbone to address the issue. Nevertheless, factors affecting recycling are also highlighted. The idea of this research is to use mobile application that allows users to call for collection of recyclable waste similar to the way they schedule an Uber taxi. The mobile application users that are interested in recycling can be the transporter to transport recyclable waste to the nearest waste management center. The waste management center will calculate the market price of the recyclable waste and then pay for it through the application. The application will then transfer the remuneration to the disposer and the transporter.
