Biography

Erika Davalos-Lemus is a passionate educator committed to advancing student success in language, literacy, and math. She currently serves as the State and Federal Senior Coordinator at the Merced County Office of Education, where she collaborates with district and site leaders using improvement science to drive meaningful change. Erika also coaches districts in the Improvement Science Superintendent Series Network, which focuses on improving outcomes for multilingual learners. For the past three years, Erika has supported administrators, teachers, and students by promoting effective, research-based practices to help all students succeed. As a County Coordinator, she has fostered collaborative learning communities and delivered professional development on strategies that enhance critical thinking, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning. With a background in multilingual education, Erika previously served as a dual immersion teacher and instructional coach. Through the Emerging Bilingual Collaborative grant, she helped implement Sobrato Early Academic Language (SEAL) strategies, bringing vital resources to schools serving multilingual learners. Erika’s impact extends beyond her county work. She has presented at national and state conferences, including the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) in Atlanta, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) in Washington, D.C., and the California Mathematics Council (CMC) conferences in the South, Central, and North regions. Erika is deeply committed to creating culturally responsive and inclusive environments where all students feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.
