Abstract

A continuous improvement project (CIP) is a structured project using a team of people during a relative short period of time to improve a work area or process metric, as order delays.  An international wire company had 88% of a monthly average of fulfillment orders on time, producing low customer satisfaction. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to increase the fulfillment level.  To address this aim, research team conducted an action research, using the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) problem solving methodology.  Although this investigation is an ongoing CIP, after one week of testing some of the solutions, the fulfillment level was improved by 3.5%. The content of this CIP is relevant for every professional because it shows the process of applying a continuous improvement methodology in the analysis, design and implementation of a solution to a very common issue for every company.
