A Bibliometric Overview of Universal Basic Income Study

Abstract

Universal basic income is one of the government's programs to improve the economic welfare of its people. From a bibliometric overview, this study aims to visually research mapping and research trends in the field of universal basic income. This study used bibliometric techniques with secondary data from Scopus. Analyze and visualize data using the VOSViewer program and the analyze search results function on Scopus. This study analyzed 272 scientific documents published from 1996 to 2020. According to the research, the University of Oxford and Perkiö, J. had the most active affiliated institutions and individual scientists in universal basic income research. Social Sciences; and Basic Income Studies were the most studied and disseminated outlets of universal basic income research. There was one category map of collaborative researchers. Based on the identification of a collection of knowledge generated from over twenty-four years of publication, this research proposes a grouping of universal basic income research themes: government responsibility, income, basic need, labor, element of welfare, and technology, as GIBLET research themes.
