Abstract

Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) are highly applauded for benefits they provide. When properly deployed, WMS can assist companies to reduce labor costs, improve accuracy and efficiency, and increase visibility of workflow and inventory. On the contrary, companies with deficient WMS, end up losing time and money. Companies should continuously strive to have an efficient WMS for organizational effectiveness. To address this issue, this paper is proposing “WMS suite” to optimize overall warehouse operations. The solution manages the entire warehouse operation cycle in real-time. It controls warehouse operators as well as material handling equipment, and operatively produces tasks based on current warehousing situation. The recommended tasks are intended to achieve highest possible performance. The entire warehouse management cycle is automated, from the point that goods are received at the warehouse up to the delivery of final products. The system reduces idle time, as it is founded on the fundamental concept of job rotation for warehouse operators.
