Abstract :

This study is a contribution to improving understanding of the characterization and modeling of rheological behavior of oil-based mud to improve operational forecasts oil fields through a better understanding of the behavior of fluid injected into an oil well.

For years, the drilling mud was hardly retained attention because it was the eyes of a viscous drillers and messy liquid whose sole recognized role was to ensure the evacuation of torn rock cuttings (cuttings) of the well. Currently, it is recognized from the drilling mud several essential functions in the success of a well, too, numerous studies and research are carried out regularly in order to better understand and improve these fluids.

This study aims to investigate one of the many problems encountered in the use of invert emulsion drilling mud, namely the influence of temperature and pressure the rheological properties of the drilling mud and essentially the evolution of the theoretical apparent viscosity with increasing temperature.

It is clear that the apparent viscosity varies with shear rate and temperature. This viscosity is a decreasing function relative to the temperature increase, it tends to approach Newtonian behavior at very high shear rates.

Keywords: Oil drilling, rheology, temperature, modeling, characterization.
