Abstract
Merchants get advantages from mobile payments through heightened sales, expedited transactions, and less dependence on physical cash management. In rural petrol stations, previous studies show less consideration among merchants for adopting m-payment. This is due to a few factors like infrastructure requirements, accessibility via basic smartphones, and government initiatives promoting digital financial services that contribute to widespread acceptance in rural areas. This study contributes to rural mobile payment literature, particularly in the petrol station sector, aiming to guide policymakers, industry stakeholders, and service providers. It seeks to identify crucial elements, emphasize the significance of cost and security, and offer recommendations for the effective integration of mobile payment systems among rural petrol station merchants in Northern Malaysia.
