Digital transformation is reshaping education by introducing new technologies, platforms, content, and assessment methods. This shift aligns with Education 4.0, where institutions leverage innovative learning strategies, intelligent infrastructures, and emerging technologies to enhance knowledge creation and information transfer. The transformation demands robust digital literacy training to support teaching and learning (T&L) in the evolving educational landscape. In an Open Distance e-learning (ODeL) environment, digital transformation integrates social networks, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT) into both face-to-face and remote education. This research examines how digital literacy elements emerge during instructor-student engagement with module content, highlighting their role in overcoming T&L challenges. It identifies key digital competencies essential for navigating educational technology in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Using a qualitative research approach, the study explores how these competencies empower students and instructors to adapt to the new normal. The findings present digital literacy skills as a foundational solution to enhance T&L effectiveness and bridge the gap in digital readiness. By equipping educators and learners with these skills, institutions can foster a more adaptable and resilient educational environment.
