The milestones of transitions between industrial revolutions are increasingly nebulous, and thus their objectives and methods. In the search for a better understanding of the concept of the fifth industrial revolution and its impacts, it is suggested that the topic be analyzed from the perspective of International Trade, a perspective that remains unexplored in the literature. Industry 5.0 aims to reconcile the previous iteration with sustainability, bringing humans back into the system with their central role. In this sense, the present conceptual study analyzed aspects related to the benefits and challenges inherent to digital transformation, such as competitiveness, empowerment, cybersecurity, collaboration between man and machine, and digital divide. From this analysis, collaboration emerges as a central element, underlying every aspect of this revolution. As a social manifestation, trade presents itself as an element of fundamental union to society; on an international scale, International Trade appears to both shape and be shaped by the fifth industrial revolution, especially regarding the integration of the elements that make up the Cyber-Physical-System (CPS).
