An intellectual focus on Motorsports provides the perfect setting to abandon academic silos, create a collaborative space for scholars to reach across campus, and create valuable learning experiences for students. This case study describes how faculty at a small regional institution leveraged research in motorsports to build campus collaboration to better prepare students for careers of the future. With support from the administration as well deans from three colleges new courses were created and a community engaged event was produced. Local k -12 students were invited to campus to be introduced career opportunities that often go unexplored. Although the careers are initially focused on roles in motorsports, these positions are vehicles that exhibit transferrable skills. Higher education has been under attack by individuals questioning the economic value and contribution to career readiness for students. Motorsports maybe a vehicle to help reaffirm the value STEM education, management, humanities, and arts with a single focus.
