This study explores the applications of biodegradable polymers across multiple fields. A systematic literature review was conducted using the Scopus database, and bibliometric analysis was performed with Biblioshiny to identify research trends, thematic development, and gaps in the field. The findings indicate that biodegradable polymers are predominantly used in biomedical applications (54%), followed by electronics (17%), aerospace and automotive sectors (13%), packaging (8%), and robotics (4%). Thematic analysis indicates that core areas such as 3D printing, biodegradable polymers, and sustainable development are well established but not yet fully developed. Co-occurrence analysis further highlights drug delivery systems as an emerging yet underexplored research theme. Geographically, research is concentrated in Asia and North America, with limited contributions from Africa, underscoring the need for greater regional research engagement. Overall, the study highlights both the growing importance and existing gaps in the field, particularly for biomedical applications.
