The impacts of economics and environmental laws have caused a new era of issues in reverse logistics. Consumers' alertness, reinforced by legally compulsory constraints, national and global, has led to the need for the revision of the product life cycle or for the return of products from the field, as well as more environmentally friendly products. As a result, reverse logistics planning must now consider both forward and return flows of products, scrap, and packaging. All these tests make reverse logistics a modern area of attention in business and among researchers. Literature and purposed was analyzed to regulate the optimization of reverse logistics in plastics and the aluminum beverage industry. A qualitative research methodology study in the field was analyzed and selected according to our topic. Challenges and potential solutions are presented to mitigate the concerns from environmental and economic drivers in South Africa. The research studies the South African plastics and Aluminium industry logistics operations model.
