This systematic literature review examines research combining mineral resource management, artificial intelligence, and regulatory policy. Following PRISMA guidelines, the searches include six academic databases (2021-2025) using systematic protocols to identify studies at the intersection of these three domains. Our analysis of 287,601 initial records, narrowed to 23 relevant studies, reveals a critical gap: no studies simultaneously address all three domains. The search yielded 1,708 studies on mineral resource management, 167,310 on artificial intelligence, and 1,220 on regulatory policy, but zero studies integrating all three areas. This gap represents a significant barrier to developing intelligent governance frameworks for mineral resources. Key findings reveal five critical research voids: absence of comparative frameworks between traditional and AI-enhanced regulatory approaches; lack of performance indicators for AI systems in regulatory contexts; fragmented communication between disciplines; missing integration strategies for AI deployment; and inadequate evaluation metrics. This research agenda provides justification for interdisciplinary research initiatives in AI-enhanced mineral resource policy frameworks, contributing to sustainable development goals 1, 9, 10, 12, and 16.
