Each year, the demand for medical care increases, and when patients arrive for their appointments, they express frustration and discomfort due to the long wait times. This problem is primarily caused by poor management of medical records, inadequate distribution of medical equipment, and unexpected malfunctions. In response to these issues found in the ophthalmology clinic, a model is proposed applying the Lean Healthcare methodology with the engineering tools 5S, TPM, and plant layout to improve the care process, reduce patient wait times, and enhance the level of service. In the healthcare environment, every minute counts. Behind every patient is a story, a concern, a physical or emotional discomfort that should not be prolonged unnecessarily. Excessive wait times not only generate frustration but also erode trust in the healthcare system. The proposal is to expand the application of these tools to other medical offices to evaluate their effectiveness, integrate digital technologies for medical records and automated appointments to optimize care, and promote staff training in quality management methodologies to ensure the sustainability of the changes.
