This study addresses the high incidence of workplace accidents in a Peruvian metalworking SME, attributed to the lack of order and cleanliness at the workstation and non-compliance with safety standards. To reduce workplace accidents, the research focused on a pilot test in the welding area, applying good Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practices and implementing the 5S methodology following the PDCA continuous improvement cycle. The results show a 100% reduction in monthly workplace accidents and a significant increase of 92% in compliance with safety standards, as well as 94% compliance in the 5S Checklist. These improvements also reduced risk levels, tool search times, and enhanced discipline regarding workstation cleanliness. These findings validate the effectiveness of the implemented approach and suggest potential scalability to the entire production area.
