Many arid mountainous regions in Saudi Arabia face significant environmental challenges, such as soil erosion and difficulty in afforestation, threatening the environment, biodiversity, and infrastructure. Our project, the design of an intelligent monitoring and control system for slope stabilization in arid mountainous areas, offers an innovative and sustainable solution that combines environmental engineering, natural materials, and smart technologies to revitalize these areas. The project relies on a prefabricated, multi-layered, easy-to-install network that is placed directly on slopes or mountainsides. It includes natural burlap for soil stabilization, soil mixed with hydrogel for water storage and plant growth stimulation, and a flexible polymer mesh to stabilize all layers and protect the slope. The system also incorporates smart soil monitoring sensors that measure moisture and temperature to ensure continuous assessment of slope conditions. Through this design, arid mountain slopes are transformed into sustainable green areas that enhance biodiversity, protect the soil, and support Saudi Arabia's Green Goals and Vision 2030. The project becomes an integrated smart ecosystem that combines technological innovation and environmental sustainability to achieve slope stabilization in a safe and effective manner.
