Warehouses play an essential role in global supply chains and have a major impact on operational efficiency, sustainability, and the well-being of workers. However, even with modern technologies, many warehouses still deal with practical issues such as manual quality control, poor ergonomics, unclear signage, limited waste management, and outdated lighting.
This paper presents a conceptual best-practice case study that looks at how these challenges can be addressed in a warehouse in Dubai. The study suggests an integrated improvement framework based on field observations and a review of existing literature, instead of relying on quantitative optimization. The framework includes using automated quality control systems, improving ergonomic workstation designs, applying standardized signage, introducing sustainable waste management practices, and upgrading lighting to more energy-efficient options.
The goal is to improve efficiency, lower environmental impact, and support worker safety and satisfaction. This conceptual model serves as a starting point for future simulation and real-world validation within Dubai’s logistics sector.
