ABSTRACT

The significance of environmental sustainability is being highlighted with the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Consumers are increasingly in search of sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives to traditional products. There is no exception to menstrual hygiene industry , with a growing demand for biodegradable sanitary pads. Traditional sanitary pads made from synthetic materials can take hundreds of years to decompose, contributing to landfill waste. Biodegradable pads break down naturally, reducing their environmental footprint.

Objectives: This research aims to study the awareness and to examine the Impact of Factors towards the adaptability of Organic, Biodegradable, and Eco-friendly sanitary pads among college students.

Methods: This Research study seeks to understand the perceptions of 164 college students about sustainable menstrual hygiene products and assess their willingness to switch from conventional pads to more environmentally friendly alternatives. The research methodology involves employing online surveys to collect the data from selected sample, enabling the collection of their opinions, knowledge, and preferences related to sanitary pad usage.

Results: The findings derived from this study shows number of key variables that affect people's preferences for sanitary pads, including cost, accessibility, quality, brand, thickness, absorbency, comfort, leakage-free performance, level of hygiene, fragrance-free formulation, lightness, and rash-free attributes. By understanding the awareness among college students towards eco-friendly sanitary pads, causes of their long-term use on health.

Conclusion: With the growing demand for sustainable solutions, it is imperative to support and promote the awareness and usage of biodegradable menstrual pads as a positive step towards a greener and healthier future.
