Industry 4.0 is the digital transformation of industry, which integrates digital technologies into production and management. Also known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it aims to increase productivity and product quality. Lean manufacturing is the term that describes the Toyota Production System (TPS), focused on people, continuous improvement and waste reduction, whose objective is to reduce costs through the implementation of principles that characterize its own management model and rules, initially implemented in the industry and currently with wide application. The combination of industry 4.0 and lean manufacturing is not yet fully clarified, taking as a basis that the industry 4.0 enablers are implemented in a predominantly lean manufacturing production system. Thus, based on the analysis of data obtained through research with a qualitative approach, of an applied nature, with a descriptive objective and a bibliographical research technique, it was possible to verify that there are contributions between Industry 4.0 and lean manufacturing and vice versa. Therefore, this work presents how the new industrial revolution (industry 4.0) works with lean manufacturing techniques and how this positively changes management within organizations.
