For Lessons Learned to yield effective results in organizations, a robust Knowledge Management framework is essential to transform these lessons into continuous organizational learning. However, while many companies acknowledge the importance of Knowledge Management, they often restrict themselves to merely documenting Lessons Learned without fully integrating them into structured learning processes.This study employs a case study methodology, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative analyses. Data collection includes interviews, and an analysis of company records related to Lessons Learned from two projects and their respective impacts.
This dataset is used to analyze the observed impacts on the projects, emphasizing the value of Lessons Learned Knowledge Management and reinforcing its importance for future applications in new projects. The findings demonstrate significant benefits, particularly in reducing rework, optimizing working hours, improving deadline compliance, and enhancing productivity. These benefits result from the company’s ability to sustain an effective Lessons Learned Knowledge Management system and systematically apply acquired insights to future projects.
Thus, implementing a structured Lessons Learned Knowledge Management approach is essential for a consulting engineering firm to effectively leverage past lessons in future projects and achieve tangible benefits.
