The peruvian education sector faces challenges in human development and security, particularly due to its location in the Pacific Fire Belt, where natural disaster risk is high. While risk management has advanced in other sectors, education has received less attention. This study addresses that gap by identifying key issues in a public educational institution, including students' lack of emergency preparedness, low engagement with safety topics, and infrastructure deficiencies. To enhance risk management, the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) methodology was applied alongside HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control), signage and evacuation maps. The proposed model integrated signage design, evacuation procedures, usage instructions, and training for teachers and students. Results showed an increase in ISO 45001 compliance from 56.52% to 84.78%, a reduction in significant risks, and an improvement in vulnerability scores from 71 to 92 points. Additionally, the percentage of students who know how to respond in emergencies increased by 18.18%, confirming the model’s effectiveness. This project provides a scalable framework for enhancing safety in both public and private educational institutions.
