This study examines the feasibility of extracting critical materials from photovoltaic (PV) cells and evaluates global recycling methodologies, proposing strategies for the UAE. As the UAE expands its solar energy sector, managing end-of-life PV cell waste becomes increasingly crucial. The paper assesses current PV cell production, material use, and anticipated waste volumes, emphasizing the need for advanced recycling technologies to reclaim valuable materials such as Silicon, Silver, and Indium. While global efforts show promise, particularly in the EU and Asia, localized strategies are essential for the UAE's unique context. Recommendations include developing advanced recycling technologies, investing in research, implementing regulatory frameworks, and promoting industry collaboration. The study also highlights the importance of establishing international standards, increasing public awareness, and providing economic incentives for recycling. Effective management of solar panel waste can significantly reduce environmental impact and enhance the economic viability of the renewable energy sector in the UAE.
