High competitiveness level in manufacture industry has caused companies to compete not only to be efficient (lean) but also sustainable. In order to achieve sustainability, a company requires a thorough examination of the product design process, the manufacturing process, and the overall supply chain. Many studies have attempted to develop value stream mapping (VSM) that is integrated with environmental and social aspects to produce sustainable system, but they fail to describe the overall performance of sustainability throughout the product life cycle. To do so life cycle value stream mapping (LC-VSM) has been develop. LC-VSM aims to analyze sustainability performance throughout the product life cycle. The product life cycle consists of pre manufacturing, manufacturing, distribution, use, and end of life. This research is aimed to apply LC-VSM to manufacturing companies in Indonesia. The companies are two bottled drinking water companies. The output of this research are map of LC-VSM and system performance measurement in term of efficiency of each stage. Based on this research can identify which indicator that less efficient and should be improved at each stage. In addition the efficiency of those company can be compared.
