Dr. Leticia Pérez is an educator with over 25 years of experience in the New York City Department of Education. Throughout her extensive career, she has served in a variety of roles, including as a classroom teacher in bilingual elementary grade-level settings, an English as a New Language (ENL) teacher, and a Multilingual/English Language Learner (ML/ELL) program coordinator. Her deep commitment to inclusive education and language equity has shaped her approach to teaching and leadership.
Dr. Pérez earned her Doctorate of Education from St. John's University, where her research explored the inclusion of underrepresented teacher populations within New York City public schools and her academic work reflects her passion for equity and representation in education.
Her professional interests center on the integration of instructional practices that promote inclusion, culturally responsive teaching, and translanguaging. Dr. Pérez believes in honoring the linguistic and cultural assets that multilingual students bring into our classrooms and is committed to creating spaces where all learners, and educators, can thrive.
A life-long learner and advocate, Dr. Pérez remains dedicated to empowering students and families, supporting educators, and contributing to the development of more inclusive and equitable school communities.
