Aida Fernández – Spanish Language Educator and Researcher
Aida Fernández is a passionate Spanish educator originally from Spain, with over a decade of international teaching experience in Spain, the United States (Louisiana and Virginia), and Canada. She has worked in both pre-elementary and elementary settings, teaching subjects such as language, math, science, social studies, art, and P.E. Her approach to education emphasizes student engagement, differentiated instruction, and meaningful relationships, with a strong belief in the power of movement and active learning in language acquisition.
Aida holds degrees in Law, Early Childhood Education, and Elementary Education. She also earned a master’s degree in learning foreign languages through new technologies and a second master’s in Reading from Shenandoah University. Recently, she completed a Ph.D. in Education focused on learning a foreign language.
Throughout her career, Aida has designed creative, student-centered lessons that integrate technology, promote classroom interaction, and support the social-emotional development of multilingual learners. She is committed to helping students build confidence, curiosity, and cultural understanding through language.
In her conference workshop, Aida will share innovative, movement-based strategies that enhance Spanish language learning, such as dictado en movimiento and vocabulary games that promote active engagement. Her goal is to inspire educators to create dynamic and inclusive environments where all students can thrive and learn meaningfully.
