Younggun Lee received his B.S. degree in Chemistry and Physics from the
Republic of Korea Air Force Academy, Cheongju, South Korea, in 2005. He obtained his
M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Seoul National University,
Seoul, South Korea, in 2009, and earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of
Washington, Seattle, WA, USA, in 2017. In 2018, Dr. Lee joined the Department of
Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Republic of Korea Air Force Academy,
Cheongju, South Korea. He was promoted to Associate Professor in the same year and
further advanced to Professor in 2023.
His research interests encompass computer vision, image processing, and machine
learning. Dr. Lee has received several accolades for his contributions to the field. He was the
winner of the AI City Challenge Workshop at CVPR 2018, and his paper was honored with
the Best Paper Award at the IEIE Autumn Conference in 2018. In 2024, he was recognized
as the Outstanding Professor of the Year at the Republic of Korea Air Force Academy,
further highlighting his excellence in academia and research.
