Biography

Dr. Joao Goebel is an Associate Professor and Chair of ESL/Bilingual Education at National Louis University. He began his education career teaching English as a Second Language in a K-12 school in Brazil. In the U.S., he acquired experience working in Early Childhood education as a teacher and as Curriculum Coordinator. Dr. Goebel focuses on Latinx students’ language identity and translanguaging pedagogy and research. He is committed to language equity and creating language spaces that honor and elevate Latinx students’ language identity.
