Biography

Ms. Rumina Velshi was appointed President and CEO of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for a five-year term beginning August 22, 2018. She was appointed as a permanent, part-time Commission member in 2011 and re-appointed for a second five-year term in March 2018. She has worked in various capacities at Ontario Hydro and OPG and served as a part-time Board member on the Ontario Energy Board. She was one of the founding members of Canada’s Women in Science and Engineering. She is the recipient of the 2011 Women in Nuclear (WiN) Canada Leadership Award. She holds a BS, a Masters of Engineering, and a MBA from the University of Toronto.
