Claudia Cardona graduated with a Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering at Florida International University (FIU). She also obtained a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the same institution in 2003 and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from EAFIT University in Colombia. Currently, Claudia’s dissertation focused on the remediation of the uranium-contaminated subsurface in the deep vadose zone. Her work evaluated the effects of Si and Al ratios and divalent ions Ca2+ and Mg2+ on the removal of uranium at the Hanford Site 200 Area.
