Biography

Stephan Hotzel is a technical officer/expert at BASE, the German Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management. Before joining BASE in 2021, he worked as a technical expert at GRS, the leading technical support organisation for nuclear installations in Germany. He has 14 years of experience in safety assessments for radioactive waste disposal facilities. He holds a physics diploma from Hamburg university and a PhD from Heidelberg. In the last decade, he has been working in the international initiative Preservation of Records, Knowledge and Memory across Generations of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency.
