Biography

Oral Johnston lives in Black River First Nation situated along the eastern shores of Lake Winnipeg. His interest in the closure of the Whiteshell site stems from his work as a long-time councillor and community leader of Black River First Nation. Recently he has been involved in landing a new Lagoon for his community and discussions are underway to look at a community waste transfer station. He is excited to be at the conference to share his knowledge as an Indigenous leader and perspectives on successes and challenges related to the closure of the Whiteshell site.
