Biography

Derek is currently the Head of Projects for the Pile Fuel Cladding Silo, where he is responsible for leading a number of projects aimed at emptying then eventual decommissioning and demolition of the oldest waste silo on the Sellafield site. Derek joined the nuclear industry in 1990 and has since headed up a number of successful projects cleaning up historic facilities including solvent tanks, flocculated product stores, effluent treatment plants and fuel storage pools as well as his current work on waste silos. Derek recently contributed to the IAEA tech guide on fuel pool decommissioning , sharing his experience in clean-up projects..
