Ryan Cruz is a Department of Energy Fellow and graduate research assistant at Florida International University's Applied Research Center where he is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in cybersecurity. He previously interned at Savannah River National Laboratory in the summer of 2018 where he engineered a method of adding TLS/SSL via hardware without encryption to the Modbus protocol for authenticated data transmission. Ryan's current research at the Applied Research Center involves penetration testing and malware analysis of the Deactivation and Decommissioning Knowledge Management Information Tool (D&D KM-IT) database and application server to investigate and remediate any vulnerabilities encountered in the system.
