Biography

Gary is the Principal Technology Officer for the Indo-Pacific region of Defense & Security and a CAE Learning Science Fellow. This role provides a support function to the regional business development teams in ensuring that the most advanced technical solutions can be presented to customers. In addition the role provides a focus for regional internal and customer funded research and development programs. Gary has over 35 years of experience in simulation research, solution development and sales. This began in visual system development for flight simulators, moving to driving simulation and commercial virtual reality solution development in the UK. In 1999 he moved to Australia with Silicon Graphics Professional Services, creating solutions for customers in a range of industries from automotive engineering, oil & gas exploration, entertainment and Government research. Prior to joining CAE he spent time with QinetiQ developing serious game based training solutions and time with a hospital training centre, learning the art and science of healthcare simulation based education. On joining CAE he was responsible for developing the Healthcare business in IPAC managing 35 distributors over 17 countries. He spent 12 years developing the business and leading a team of sales and solution specialists. Gary completed his Doctor of Philosophy Degree at the University of the Sunshine Coast, studying the efficacy of serious game based simulations for technical and non-technical skills training in Healthcare. He holds an MBA from the University of Brighton and a BSc in Materials Technology from the University of Coventry.
