Biography

Jacob Piper is a staff scientist in the Nuclear Engineering and Nonproliferation division at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He has a Bachelor of Science in geology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a Master of Science in geological sciences with a focus on mineralogy from New Mexico State University. He is a New Mexico Space Grant Consortium Graduate Fellow. Jacob has six years of experience developing Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy techniques for heavy mineral identification in ancient and modern sediments and quantitative chemical analysis of waste materials.
