Biography

Oliver Steele is a Senior Waste Specialist in Nuclear Waste Services’ Integrated Waste Management Programme. In addition to leading the Controlled Waste Programme, which is optimising the use of the circular economy for bulk wastes in the NDA group, he led the work to develop the underpinning for the Characterisation Programme and has supported projects on Problematic Radioactive Wastes including the management of contaminated mercury. Oliver prides himself on his ability to make complex concepts and ideas accessible and memorable to a range of audiences, most famously explaining destructive assay for waste characterisation in terms of biscuits.
