Biography

Dr. Sampathkumaran has 35 years of experience developing nanomaterials-based multifunctional oxide and polymer nanocomposite coatings with an emphasis on surface modification strategies and cost-effective processing. She received her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay, India where she developed composite microwave-absorbing paint formulations for mm wave applications. At Case Western Reserve University her work focused on the biomimetic growth of nanoscale oxide thin films. At InnoSense LLC, she leads the development of ORMOSILs, aerogels and nanomaterials for optical sensing of gases and viruses, including coatings for anti-fog, decontamination of toxic metals and dust suppression applications.
