Biography

Ashleigh Kirstin Sockwell earned her BS in chemistry from the University of Alabama and her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Clemson University. Her doctoral work involved the design and synthesis of ligands for the selective coordination of the actinides. She was a postdoctoral associate in the Applied Research Center at Florida International University where she supported two tasks under ARC’s DOE-EM Cooperative Agreement, including the study of glass wasteform dissolution to support the lysimeter studies at Hanford and investigating the impact of ligands and ionic strength on the fate and transport of contaminants at the WIPP. She has recently moved to the University of Notre Dame.
