Biography

Peter T. Chang, M.D., is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine. He is also the director of the glaucoma fellowship. He obtained his medical degree from University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude). His ophthalmology residency was completed at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his fellowship in glaucoma at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Chang’s clinical interests include surgical treatment of glaucoma in adults and children and new, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery such as iStent, Hydrus, OMNI System, and XEN Gel Stent. He is one of only few specialists in the region who treat infantile/pediatric glaucoma. He was the inaugural recipient of the Baylor College of Medicine's Rising Star Clinician Award in 2014. He has also been recognized with the Dan B. Jones Teaching Award for excellence in resident education, and has been listed in “The Best Doctors in America” on an annual basis since 2011. He was honored as the Distinguished Alumnus in 2023 for the Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Chang participates in numerous clinical research and trials, aiming to improve the medical and surgical care of glaucoma.
