Dr. Jessica C. Salazar is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Texas Wesleyan University. She holds a B.A. in Bilingual Education, a Master of Reading, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Wesleyan University. Before joining higher education, Dr. Salazar spent over 20 years advocating for and teaching English Learners in public education. She has served as a district Bilingual/ESL Instructional Coach, a Title Reading Specialist, a Bilingual Teacher, and a Bilingual Teacher Assistant. Dr. Salazar currently teaches Preservice Bilingual and ESL Education Teachers. Her courses focus on effective best practices for enriching students’ L1, bridging between L1 and L2, and language acquisition. She is the Resident Site Coordinator for Texas Wesleyan University. Dr. Salazar has also supervised clinical teachers in six different local school districts. Dr. Salazar has had the honor of presenting at many local, state, and national conferences. She is passionate about learning and teaching English Learners and plans to continue advocating for their best interest.
