Biography

Lorraine has been in the field of education and leadership for over 39 years. Having completed a wide range of training, she has successfully led six schools in two states, created curricula and dual language programs, mentored and coached aspiring, struggling, and new school leaders, attained a 100% placement success rate, and written and been granted more than $5.5 million in funding to support her schools. Additional achievements include serving as an adjunct professor at UIC, presenting at the NABE Conference in New Mexico, Georgia, and Illinois, and appearing on WCIU's Homework Show for eight years. She founded her consulting business in 2011, Learning With Lorraine, LLC, and Raine Day Solutions, NFP, where she has contributed her skills to project management, workforce Spanish for two hospitals, and curriculum design for two schools under development in Atlanta and Chicago. Ms. Cruz received the R.I.S.E. award in 2014 and obtained national certification as a Leadership Coach from the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and Illinois Principals Association (IPA). In 2020 she completed a capstone on Innovative School Design while leading an alternative high school, taught financial literacy, and completed the Leadership Coaching Program through Harvard University. Lorraine currently serves as a School Improvement Specialist with South Cook REO, a Leadership Coach with IPA, and a Licensed Insurance Broker with FinFit Life, all while serving the Spanish-speaking community.
