Biography

Dr. Markley joined the NRC in 2007 to provide risk analysis, technical, and programmatic support for the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle in the areas of storage, transportation, and disposal of spent nuclear fuel. He is also involved in planning for the front and back ends of advanced nuclear fuel cycles. He earned degrees from the University of Pittsburgh (BS) and Texas A&M University (MS, PhD), where his research focused on near-surface environmental biogeochemistry and geoscience education. He currently serves as a Bureau member on the Nuclear Energy Agency’s Forum on Stakeholder Confidence and has since 2018.
