Biography

Mr. O'Brien has over thirty-five years of experience in chemical process engineering- design, development, scale-up, startup, pilot plant operation and plant operations support for a wide variety of chemical processes with a focus on radioactive waste processing. He has expertise in fluidization engineering, aqueous waste calcination, evaporation/distillation, aqueous nitric acid/metal nitrate waste processing, coal and biomass conversion to synthetic gas and liquid fuels, process modeling, process safety, process instrumentation/industrial control systems, hazardous waste handling and disposal, and air emissions calculations. He has served as chemical process expert on technology review teams for DOE, AECL and several corporate customers.
