Biography

PhD in geology in 2001, then started at SCKCEN, the Belgian research centre on nuclear energy, on characterization of clay materials as barrier within geological disposal. This work covered host rock and bentonite characterization and perturbations, including follow-up and installation of in-situ experiments in URL HADES. In 2007 joined ONDRAF/NIRAS, the Belgian agency for radioactive waste management. In 2016 became RD&D Manager, steering all Belgian RD&D on radioactive waste management (treatment, conditioning, surface disposal and geological disposal). At international level involved in European research steering, collaboration with and member of advisory groups for several waste management agencies and review groups.
