Biography

Unusual background in civil engineering, geology, geotechnical engineering, rock mechanics, seismology, geothermal research together with oil, gas and geothermal exploration and development. Involvement in several unusual and especially challenging projects including investigations for mined repositories and studies for deep borehole disposal of radioactive waste. Extensive international experience having worked in over 50 countries. Reputation for taking on especially challenging projects and lateral thinking. Served on the IADC Executive Committee and also as Chairman of the IADC Government Affairs Committee and represented IADC on the IOGP 'Gas From Shales Task Force' related to shale gas exploration and development in Europe.
